Data and verification methodology
This page explains where records come from, what each status means and how errors are corrected.
Single source of truth
The canonical dataset in this repository is the single source of truth for what Hospitals.co.zw displays. External sources never silently overwrite it: each imported fact keeps its source, date, licence and confidence, and conflicting values are queued for review. The website, sitemap, public summary and commercial exports are generated from this canonical dataset.
Source registry
These are the current source families. A source can be authoritative without being current, so every claim still carries a status and date.
- Zimbabwe Ministry of Health and Child Care — official government source; manual-or-approved-feed.
- UNFPA Maternal Health Services Portal — public international-health source; manual-review.
- Mashonaland West Provincial Government — provincial government source; manual-review.
- OCHA/HDX Zimbabwe health facilities — CC BY 4.0 public dataset; scheduled.
- Google Places location check — location reconciliation only; scheduled-with-key.
- OpenStreetMap contributors — ODbL map data; scheduled-or-manual.
Verification levels
- Source-listed: the name and location appear in a traceable public dataset, but current operating status, contacts and services have not been independently confirmed.
- Verified: one or more material details have been reconciled against a more recent public listing, official source or facility communication.
- Claimed: a facility representative supplied information; this is not clinical accreditation.
No badge guarantees that a facility is currently open or offers a particular service. Call before travelling whenever possible.
Quality controls
The build rejects missing identifiers, duplicate identifiers, invalid coordinates and sitemap URLs without generated pages. Records are matched by normalised name, province and district. Thin source-only records remain searchable but are not automatically turned into indexable profile pages.
